Hey Sarah — of everything in this piece, the network effects point is what stuck with me, As a VC in India focused on AI, I have to think about disruption risk quite deeply and digging into that, I've found something that doesn't have a name yet: SaaS tools quietly turning into marketplaces, automating one side of a transaction and ending up running both. Wrote it up with live examples (Zip, a couple of hiring products converging on the same end-state from opposite directions) here: https://sauravgopal.substack.com/p/the-next-10b-indian-ai-companies

Would love your thoughts

Super interesting, Sarah! What you’re describing is exactly Amazon’s game — when a product takes off, they produce it themselves and push it to the top, killing the competition.

The only way to fight back is to build a strategic interdependence, making it so they can’t do without you, just as you can’t do without them! I cover this more on @BrainInvest.

Thrilled to have discovered your newsletter — it’s fantastic!
